Description of object

On a small projection two figures are rendered in relief. In the middle a young warrior clasps the hand of an elderly man. The young man wears an attic helmet with a crest, chiton, cuirass and chlamys over his shoulders and greaves on his legs. Originally a lance may have been painted in his left hand. Behind him his squire, clad in a simple exomis, carries his sword and shield. Behind the father a fourth figure, an old man, has been added outside the projection, and in lower relief. He supports himself on a stick, originally painted on, his right hand is raised to his forehead in a gesture of mourning. The neck has been broken and restored, the foot is new of marble.
