Fragmented pinax depicting two warriors.

Description of object

In the upper part of the pinax a broad band is indicated of which two incised and painted parallel bands are preserved. Above this, a red frieze/band is visible. In the center, two warriors are indicated. The warrior to the left is wearing a Corinthian helmet with a high crest. He is holding a round shield with his left arm. The shield is decorated with a triskelion. The warrior is holding a double spear in his right hand. To the right, another warrior is rendered. Only a part of his shield is visible. The shield is decorated with the outer edge having red squares, surrounded by a black line.

Visual examination

The pinax is painted in red, brown and black on a light brown slip. The paint is flaking. There are traces of white paint on the left edge.
